Ballet is En Vogue in Fashion Advertising
Published: 09/27/2011 by DanceChannelTv
Throughout history, the arts have had an impact on fashion and enjoyed a fruitful collaboration. For example, Coco Chanel was one of the costume designers for The Ballet Russes and, it is believed, that her costumes contributed greatly to the scandal caused by the production of The Rite of Spring. But ballet’s latest influence over fashion has become particularly apparent since the release of “Black Swan”. Not only has the film inspired garments and accessories influenced by ballet, but it has also thrust many ballet-inspired ads into the mainstream culture. The latest craze is made apparent by the use of ballet and ballet dancers in the ads for some major companies, including Alfred Dunhill, Nike, YSL and Hudson Jeans, to name just a few. Judging by these ads, fashion and ballet make beautiful dance partners.
